Naomi: My Favorite Kitty

Naomi (I call her Mee-May) is my favorite kitty. I enjoy nothing in life more than spending time with Mee-May in the corner behind the recliner in the den. When I'm too agressive, Mee-May will swat, bite, or hiss at me to set me straight, and I respect her wishes and back off. (Well, most of the time; sometimes I cry. But I'm never upset at Mee-May, just upset about the situation.)

To show my love for Mee-May, I often bring her offerings. I bring her DVDs, books, pens and pencils, toys, and food. The other day, I brought Mee-May several vacuum-sealed packages of salmon, which mommy and daddy refused to open. They just don't have the same reverance for Mee-May that I have.

Asleep at the Desk

I was baptized in The United Methodist Church and therefore have been blessed with a Protestant work ethic. I work hard, and I don't sleep any more than I have to. I'll have plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead; as long as I have a pulse, I'm not interested in wasting my time in slumber.

Unfortunately, one cannot avoid sleep entirely. But one can control how one goes asleep. Some people waste their time "getting ready for bed" and lying in bed until they "drift off." Not me. I work until I cannot physically work any more, at which point I fall asleep wherever I happen to be. That way, I can wake up and immediately get back to work.
